Acrylic Painting, and mixed media, classes in the Bemis Studios
ABSTRACT BOTANICALS
An art journal, bound in class together will be used to experiment with acrylic paint layering techniques, collage, organic shapes and mark making to create abstract botanical images. Discover how to use negative space for high impact paintings. The final project will be an abstract botanical on a collaged gesso board.

INSPIRED POSTCARDS

Inspired by the iconic Colorado College professor of art, Mary Chenoweth, who used to send handmade postcards to her friends. Gather up your stash of ephemera and precious papers you have been holding onto and use them to make small postcard sized art. This playful expression will be inspired by Mary’s art, Matisse, and Picasso. Ages 16-Adult

“T H E M O U N T A I N T H A T L O V E D A B I R D”
Explore making art using painted papers and collaging them in the style of Eric Carle who illustrated The Mountain that Loved a Bird. Bold colors and shapes will come together to create pictures inspired by the illustrations in this book. A fun and playful approach will be encouraged as well as the freedom for creative expression. Supplies will be provided.
